The non-woven fabrics industry continues to see growth and innovation, and there are still many opportunities. Example (Three) DuPont's Tyvek materials provide protection In response to the demand for personal protective equipment (PPE) in the fight against COVID-19, DuPont's Tyvek materials saw unprecedented global demand in 2020, prompting the company to increase investment and improvements in the material. In April 2020, DuPont launched the TyvekTogether program to increase the overall supply of Tyvek personal protective clothing to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and keep health care workers safe. The initiative aims to get other companies on board to protect more frontline responders, adding up to 6 million additional non-surgical barrier suits per month to the market. This plan includes investments in equipment and technology at DuPont's Richmond, VA., facility, which has significantly increased global production of Tyvek and Tychem garments to meet the growing demand for PPE. In addition, the #TyvekTogether project will also launch new dedicated Tyvek fabrics in order to increase the production of COVID-19 clothing to 15 million units per month. Tyvek style 1222A's barrier protection is similar to DuPont Tyvek 400 apparel, DuPont's core product, and can adjust fabric drape and feel to optimize material use. Available in roll-pack form for existing and new customers with cut-and-sew capabilities to increase the supply of Tyvek garments as quickly as possible. DuPont's Tyvek business is part of the company's Safety and Construction division. In the second quarter earnings call, the business unit reported that demand for Tyvek protective clothing increased by 60% over the same period last year by increasing production capacity and adjusting supply in the non-personal protection market. While Tyvek's protective clothing market performed strongly, other business areas, including construction in Tyvek's traditional key markets, declined due to the impact of home-based requirements around the world.

Example (Two) Ahlstrom continued to perform strongly in the medical and filtration markets.

    2023-07-22

The non-woven fabrics industry continues to see growth and innovation, and there are still many opportunities. Example (Two) Ahlstrom continued to perform strongly in the medical and filtration markets. Ahlstrom has also responded positively to the global coronavirus pandemic and fully integrated the company's other medical technologies with mask products to further enrich its medical product supply. Its medical and filtration businesses have tripled traditional mask capacity by reallocating production sites, moving beyond traditional manufacturing layouts, reusing existing products that would not otherwise be suitable for masks, outsourcing non-essential operations, licensing existing external companies with similar capabilities, and reactivating dormant assets. At the same time, Ahlstrom's medical business manufacturing plant experienced an unprecedented surge in demand across all medical product categories. The company has expanded production, added capacity and adapted existing technology to global needs to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. "We are constantly monitoring supply chain related risks to ensure our production needs are being met," says Bonte. "We are also constantly on the phone with our global healthcare team to stay up to date and coordinate delivery times, production times and requirements, raw material delivery and supply chain flows."

The non-woven fabrics industry continues to see growth and innovation, and there are still many opportunities. Example (One)  Berry Global focus on higher quality home and office filtration systems. Berry Global, the world's largest non-woven fabrics manufacturer, took the lead to occupy the market opportunity in the early 2020 outbreak with melt-blown production lines already in place in China and the United States. The company immediately deployed to support the demand for non-woven fabric materials in the health care personal protective equipment, surface disinfection and air filtration markets to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, Berry has gone one step further, adding several melt-blow production lines around the world, as well as some mask production equipment. Berry operates a total of nine melt-blown production lines worldwide and has the ability to supply local non-woven fabrics in four major global regions. Now that the mask supply market is declining, Berry continues to focus on the market opportunity for melt-blown non-woven fabrics, particularly in the high-efficiency filtration category. The COVID-19 pandemic has increased demands on indoor air quality, creating new opportunities for higher quality home and office filtration systems.

Growth of non-woven industry in post-epidemic era

    2023-07-20

Growth of non-woven industry in post-epidemic era   There is no doubt that during the COVID-19 pandemic, which began in late 2019 and spread globally in 2020, the non-woven products industry has ushered in incredible growth and opportunities. Many industries have had to slow down or hit the pause button, while the non-woven products market has had to pull out all the stops. Various enterprises have full capacity, increase new lines, and try to meet the local market demand for non-woven products.   This high demand continued into 2021, global demand for masks, wet wipes and other products continued to grow, but demand for other product categories fell sharply at the end of the year, forcing some companies to shrink capacity. Even in markets such as baby diapers and women' hygiene products, demand has dropped significantly, as some consumers have stockpiled large quantities of products during the lockdown.   Other factors affecting this demand include inflation, high raw material prices and supply chain issues, and the situation in the non-woven products industry has become very challenging. With many producers in Western countries reporting that they are operating at 70-80% capacity, new investment has slowed, and profit margins have narrowed. However, the non-woven products industry continues to see growth and innovation, and there are still many opportunities.
